These past weeks have been about our dreams and evolvement. We hope you will become better and fulfilled!!

Guys!! They say: I’m extra!! I was just a young girl preparing for Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board Examination (JAMB) and I decided to give my mum my Nokia X2. I told her I wanted to face my upcoming examination. Lol.

Someone is reading this and you are thinking “ordinary JAMB Mtchew!” I laugh in Pidgin…

Fast forward to my third year as an undergraduate, one of my roommates screamed at me saying: “you read too much, you pray too much, you fast too much!!!”

“E don do” is a Nigerian pidgin expression which simply means you have done enough. It sounds like a caution from doing too much.

Dear reader, I am concerned about this expression because what actually makes the difference in life is the extra effort we put into doing things. I have been tagged as being extra in various instances but it has paid off extremely.

Yeah you guessed right! I passed the JAMB examination, got admission into the higher institution of learning and graduated in flying COLOURS!!

We can’t always do things the way everyone does it. We need to get past the stage of the norm and put in some persistence.

Calvin Coolidge said: “Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talents will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talents. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is a proverb. Education will not, the world is full of educated failures. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.”

Put in some extra effort today!! You’re most likely in a team, working on a project, nursing great ideas, working towards a goal. Awesome!! Your persistence and determination is the difference!!

However, what happens when we put in extra effort and we have little or nothing to show for it? This is a real question we will address in the next post. Drop your comments below??
