QUEEN HADASSAH
Welcome to Sarahblogz!!
Guys!! there is really something about the story of Hadassah that has been bothering me and I really want to hear from you. From the last episode, we discovered that Hadassah was from a strange land. She was actually Jewish and her uncle had given her strict warning not to disclose her nationality or her family background. Even after she was made the Queen in the Royal Palace, that sister still kept quiet!! Can we equate her silence to lying? I have been thinking about why it was so important for her to keep quiet about her nationality? she was already made the Queen and had the favour of the King. Why do you think she did that? Please drop your responses in the comment section. Help my curiosity.
Anyway, our Hadassah story continues…
During the contest, Hadassah comported herself so well that the manager in charge of the young contestants really liked her and he gave her everything she needed to win the contest and she did not ask for anything extra. You can trust the other babes, they asked for extra accessories to beautify themselves. They really thought they knew the King better than the manager who had been in charge of the King’s women. I’m happy for Hadassah!! I can imagine the other girls trying to intimidate her as they were requesting for extra stuff but baby girl was not moved.
From her story, we can find some life slaying nuggets again guys:
NEVER FOLLOW THE CROWD: Hadassah had her eyes on the reward just like the other babes but she could not do what everyone was doing. In other words, stay focused. You don’t have to do that stuff because you think everyone’s doing it! Take a pause right now and reflect.
BE CONFIDENT: Some times, the reason we lose out on some good stuff is because we actually lack some confidence. These babes had been in the palace for Twelve(12) good months prior to the contest!! Why do you think they were still asking for extra stuff at the point of the contest? The most annoying thing we can do to ourselves is to lose confidence in GOD and miss out on the good things God has for us.
BE HUMBLE: Honestly, nothing kills faster than pride and sadly, a proud person is the last person to know. Humility is simply strength put under control. Hadassah had the favour of the manager of the women which means she could get whatever she wanted easily. Interestingly, she humbled herself and did not take undue advantage of the favour she had received.
BE COURTEOUS: Some doors will open for us if we learn to be courteous. This is also called Character. How did Hadassah curry the favour of the manager of the women? Of course we know God’s grace was upon her life but she could have messed up the whole plan by being disrespectful, disobedient and mannerless. My fellow young people, let’s pay attention to this!!
Personally, I’m learning so much from the story of Hadassah and I really want to slay with these life nuggets. Let us be on top of our game with these slay life nuggets and actually SLAY!!
Thanks for reading.
We love to see your comments because it keeps us going. Stay motivated!!
Good read 💙
Hmmm…I am learning so much too. Thank you Sarah. Hmmm, what an important point you raise about Hadassah keeping silent about her nationality. I don’t know why it was so important for her to keep quiet about her nationality. I haven’t even thought of that. I’d probably do some research on that later. But this was something her uncle advised her to do, and Hadassah obeyed even if she didn’t know why because she trusted her uncle. Likewise, there are times in our life when God might probably ask us to do something and even though we might not understand why at that point, we obey because we trust Him.
The irony of it all was when her people were about to be killed and her uncle sent her a message so she could do something about it. This would mean her disclosing her identity, the one he had told her to be silent about. But instructions had changed, and Hadassah knew that this was the time to speak up
I guess this emphasizes the fact that there is a time for everything, a time to be silent and a time to speak up.
Awesome SLAY nuggets for everyone to live with. Thanks a lot Sarah blogs.
About Hadassah keeping silent and if her silence was a lie. I would say It was not in any way a lie. She simply kept silent about her nationality because she chose to obey her uncle. Ephesians 6:1-3.
Her uncle has more understanding of what might happen if her nationality is discovered which ranges from many things to the point that she could be disqualified even though the instructions to get the virgin maidens of the land for a contest did not streamline the qualifications to just the nationalities of the land but not withstanding her nationality being exposed during her time in the palace before the contest can make her becoming queen most impossible. Her uncle knew this and simply instructed her to keep silent about her nationality.
A thought provoking one. I’ve also never looked at her story. Like ebere rightly said, she trusted that her uncle had more experience and Exposure than she did. She could have also gone to ask for the reason so that she’s doing things from a place of understanding and not just of obligation.
Sarah you keep blowing my mind with the wisdom you exude. Oiin, you’re doing well😊

My answer to the question of why she had to keep quiet…. I believe that if she had made it known that she was a Jew, then Haman would not have been so rash in his actions. God must have been the one to make Mordecai tell her not to. Haman would have been more cautious or abandoned his plans totally. But from his actions, God was able to Mordecai become prime minister such that the Jews were well spoken for from that time onward. Some non-Jews even decided to become Jews eventually. If not for Haman’s actions, the Jews would have stayed in the same position. His action was the catalyst (my opinion lol)
