KPK woman: You are valued!!
Hi there!! My name is Ore-ofe. I invite you to join me on the KPK woman series for the next couple of weeks. KPK is the abbreviated form of a Nigerian slang “Ko Por Ke” meaning you are weighty or valuable. It could also mean something or someone impressive. This post is for girls and women alike. If you are not female, watch out for the KPK Man series soon.
As the media is permeated with news of so many despicable things being done to women, I’m actually glad to be writing this article. All through history, there are reports of vile acts done against women. If you have been listening to the news, you definitely know that history is not really history, history is still now. As we all rave about it this week, I would admit morale is low.
If you are anything like me, it probably took you a little time to come to the place of perfect solution but I eventually did. I turn my attention away from a society that places such little value on women and turn instead to the scriptures. Join me on my search to find out just how much value God has placed on women, (on me too) and to find out how important we are to Him. KPK Woman, You are valued!
QUALITIES OF A KPK WOMAN
- SKILLED HELPER
I want to take you back all the way to the beginning, but visualize this first. Mrs. A. opens a business and she realizes that in order for her business to prosper, she needs good employees that will work diligently and skillfully. If you were Mrs. A., What kind of person would you employ? Someone inconsequential? A skilled person? Someone who is a master of the field?
You already know the answer. As long as I have the money, I will employ a highly skilled person or someone who has the capacity to be trained and eventually become skillful. Why? Because I know that a skilled person will assist me with the necessary skills to achieve my goals and make my business prosperous. I wouldn’t mind if the person is more skilled than I am, as long as the person is dedicated to the tasks assigned to him.
In Genesis 1:27, God created man and placed him in the administrative position to take care of earth. After a while, God saw the need to create another office of a helper for the man. If Mrs A. knows to employ someone who is skilled, you would agree with me that God did the same! He didn’t create a nobody to fill the position of Assistant, YES! God must have employed someone who was equally skilled or perhaps even more skilled.
- AS GOOD AS A SON
Moving a little further into Numbers 27: 8, we find the story of five ladies; Mahlah, Noah, Hoglar, Milcah and Tirzah. They were daughters of the late Zelophedad. Please do not break your teeth trying to pronounce the names. There was uncertainty about what to do with his property since there was no son to inherit. God directed, “And give the following instructions to the people of Israel: If a man dies and has no son, then give his inheritance to his daughters(NLT)”. Never forget that you are as good as a son.
In those early ages where history records an extremely subversive perception of women, no one expected a woman to be able to inherit. God held no such opinion. Even when the rest of the tribe came to God to complain about this decision in Numbers 36:1, rather than backtrack on that decision God instead found a solution to the problem.
God is a loving Father who loves and has always loved all his children the same. God created the woman and cherishes her (you) so so much. Despite the amount of jokes made about God’s feelings about Eve’s fall, He still placed a very important task in her hands. What was the task? Find out more about this in subsequent posts.
