On your marks!!
Welcome to Sarahblogz!!
Guys, I used to be an athelete during my secondary school days. I got so used to winning that I never wanted anyone to do better than me.
Until one day when my junior..in fact my junior junior beat me to it. She won effortlessly and became the new school champion. I fell flat at the finishing line.
“On your marks…” is an expression usually used to prepare athletes in a competition that a race is about to begin.
We all get to a point when we subtly think life is actually a competition. We want to be better than others. We can’t deny that sometimes, we wish it was us who won the championship, got the job, authored that best selling book, started the booming firm, led that thriving team and the likes.
Trust me I have been there, that anger, that jealousy you can’t explain just because someone did well. Hmmn! I consciously had to open up that area of my life for Christ to deal with it.
The first thing He taught me is LOVE. He told me that if I didn’t love Him genuinely, I couldn’t love others and be happy for them. Today I’m better off for it.
Here are some other tips that I have found helpful:
1.CELEBRATE YOUR UNIQUENESS. There is something really amazing about you that you need to discover!!
2.CELEBRATE OTHERS. That way we will be opening doors for great partnerships that will change our lives and help bring our dreams to reality.
3.CHALLENGE NOT CONDEMN. We need to stop being hard on ourselves. The fact that someone is doing well should encourage us that if God can help this person then He can help me too. Stop having sleepless night over nothing. If you’re like me, I want to stay motivated!!!
4.CONCENTRATE ON YOUR STRENGTHS!! I know we are so energetic but we can’t do everything!! What do you do best? What do you enjoy doing? Let’s direct our focus at developing our strengths. You’ll be amazed at the results.
Therefore, get ON YOUR MARKS, GET SET AND GO!! It is your journey. It can never be the same as mine!!
