Wake the Sleeping Passion!!

It was a Sunday morning in Lagos, Nigeria. I was looking very attractive in my flowery red dress and nice slip-on shoes. I sat in the bus waiting for the passengers to fill up the seats so that we could begin the journey to Ikeja. Suddenly, my eye caught a young boy selling a Nigerian Snack popularly called “puff puff”. if you know me well, you’ll know I love to eat hot puff puff(don’t judge me). What began as a glance continued into a stare and then into thoughts. I saw the young man’s desire to survive. Such a hardworking and industrious boy! He even had a red scarf tied around his head and looked like a nigga!! Lool!!.

I began to sympathise with him and wished I could help him fulfill his dreams. He probably had dreams and aspirations too, you know. I know you are reading right now and can actually relate. Thank you for being humane. I began to think and think about how to help people like I had always done. Think!! then what??!!

The truth is that it takes more than sympathy to change the world. It takes more than thinking and wishing we could help someone out there. What it takes to help that young puff puff seller and many more like him is passion and consistently feeding our passion to change things and impact our world.

To the big question: what are you passionate about right now?

Interestingly, many of us are or were once passionate about some things in this life. For instance, it could be that you wanted to help people become successful, feed the poor, sanitize the entertainment industry amongst others. Have you been feeding that passion and how do you feed that passion? if we do not feed our passion, we may begin to think that perhaps we were not made for it or that we had lost interest.

Every passion will die if left unfed. Yes you killed it. We have killed many things that God has placed in our hearts through indifference and distractions. Yes you killed it and you understand exactly what I am writing. You killed it when your desire to be famous came along, when money became the focus, when God(grace) was disregarded in a subtle way and when you(self) became the reason for the passion

However, the good news is if you killed it, you can give it life again!!!
